Anthony I. (Nat) Sciuto

Anthony I. Sciuto, age 70 of Danbury, previously of Pleasantville, N.Y., husband of Cathy Sciuto, died Friday, September 4, 2009 at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Sciuto was born in Mt. Kisco, September 26, 1938, son of the late Vincent and Filippia (Masano) Sciuto. He attended Pleasantville schools and resided in Westchester County until 1966 when he moved to Danbury. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the 7th division based in Germany from 1956 to 1960. Involved in the greater Danbury area, he was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church, their Boy Scout and Pack 9 program for almost 40 years, a charter member of the Y Indian Guides, a member of the church choir as well as the former St. Gregory Players. Mr. Sciuto was also active with the Brookfield Players, New Milford Players and at Richter Park. He coached Little League and Danbury Vikings Pop Warner Football. A member of the Danbury Mineralogical Association, he enjoyed stamp and coin collecting as well. Most important to him was his family, and was very proud of them. In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by two sons, Vincent and Kenneth, both of Danbury; a sister, Tina Cali of Pleasantville, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Kenneth and Jessica Sciuto and his in-laws, Jeanne and Robert Tompkins of Beacon, N.Y., Judy and Dick Pellegrini of Lake Placid, Fla. and Marion and Clarke DeWaters of Valhalla; and ten nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and in-laws, a sister, Geraldine Clemenza predeceased him.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Saturday, September 19th from 2 to 4 p.m. A Prayer Service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. with Deacon William D.
